One God, Three Persons.
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. John 15:13–14 – (ESV)
The Catholic Church teaches that humans were created to know, love and serve God in this life, and to be eternally happy with him in the next.
Doing life with God means opening one’s heart to Him. Choosing to carry out his will at any moment and on any day. As one grows closer to God, one naturally desires to do his will.
Knowing the will of God encompasses the capacity to distinguish his voice from your own and the enemy’s.
It also binds us to serious duties and obligations, which is something we should remember on a daily basis.
The divine will has various aspects:
Now, how does one figure out God’s will?
You cannot recognise someone you do not know.
To know God’s will, we must:
A baptised person is a child of God, a priest, a prophet, and a king. We collaborate with God to become holy and bless others.
As priests, we work with God to sanctify the world. We must intercede for both the living and the deceased, and make reparation for their sins.
As prophets, we evangelise unbelievers. Christians must be well-versed in the Church’s teachings and express their faith in words and actions.
As kings, we must defeat the reign of sin in our lives and lead others to God by serving them. The baptised are responsible for the well-being of every human being.
The quality of our relationship with God determines our ability to execute our threefold mission.
Human effort cannot change hearts. Only God has the power to change people’s hearts. He touches you first, and then others through you.
Our relationship with God has a paradoxical facet. Sometimes, it can feel like God does not exist, a torturous experience. Such times reveal the depth of our faith.
From the moment we open our eyes in the morning until it is time to go to bed, we must remember that we are citizens of the heavenly kingdom in exile on a mission with God.
The Lord has given us all we need to live as if we were already in heaven with him. The hurdle is that it demands a significant amount of effort.
Our Lord is with us and for us, for he has said …
I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5–6 (esv)
I will pray for you daily for an increase in Faith, Hope, and Charity, as well as the strength to always choose God’s will.
Abundant Blessings to you.
